Bridgett is eight. For children such as Bridgett, getting out of the city means forgetting Dad's fists as much as escaping tower blocks. Her break with CCHF was much more than the chance to glimpse the sea. For this particular eight year old the break was about giving her a lifeline to sanity. Bridgett lives in a run-down part of London and has grown up watching the live-in boyfriend beat up her mother. Despite court injunctions the violence continued for five years. Bridgett is a friendly girl, but became wary of people and was described by her mother as being "very clingy".
After her CCHF break her mother said she was "a different child - she has had a wonderful break and is now far happier".
